The Idea
Drawing on the lessons learned from the previous two vehicles, I am now developing a new iteration. Inspired by the impressive thrust from the EDF in Sprite 2, I am motivated to explore thrust vectoring to enhance pitch and yaw control. Other improvements I plan to incorporate include streamlining the design for better aerodynamics, shielding the fan to prevent the lines from getting entangled, and extending the overall length to reduce tumbling upon landing.
Progress
So far, my focus has primarily been on developing the thrust vectoring mechanism. I've constructed the basic setup and have conducted initial tests. However, there's still work to do in making the mechanism more compact and robust. Recently, I encountered a setback when a bolt accidentally dropped into the assembly. Upon testing the EDF, the fan blades struck the bolt, causing damage, so I am currently awaiting the shipment of a replacement part.
Next Steps
Once the thrust vectoring system is complete, I will begin working on designing rods that resemble wings, protruding from the center to attach the paraglider. Following this, I'll create a compartment to house the spools and electronics. Below is a rough sketch of the current design concept.
